  • Advice and information on special educational needs;
  • Advice on home/school contact;
  • Befriender service for parents of children undergoing statutory assessment;
  • Disagreement resolution;
  • Information on support groups (local/national) and other sources of help;
  • Representing parents' and children's views within Hampshire Education Service;
  • Assistance with parental/child contributions towards the Annual Review/Transition Plan;
  • Organising local information days/workshops;
  • Service available during school holidays;
  • 24 hour answer machine;
  • Home visits arranged by appointment.

Southampton Parent Partnership

The Parent Partnership Service is based at the Mencap Centre and offers a free and independent service to parents or carers living in Southampton whose children have special educational needs. The service aims to give parents of children with additional needs, including the very young, access to information, advice, guidance and support in relation to the special educational needs of their child. The main aim of the Parent Partnership Service is to empower parents to make informed choices about their children?s education

Portsmouth Parent Partnership

The Portsmouth Parent Partnership Service facilitates the development and improvement of communication between families, schools, voluntary agencies and the local authority by providing practical support, offering advice and providing information regarding special educational needs including having a statement or a statutory assessment, the procedures involved, provision and voluntary support networks available. A drop-in session is available on Thursdays from 2pm - 4.30pm at London Mall (see below) where parents can come along and chat about any concerns they have regarding their childs special educational needs.
