STOP PRESS!

We have now introduced a new rate exclusively for Teaching Assistants of £50 per person. We appreciate the difficulty for TAs to obtain funding for an event such as this and, as they work in the 'front line' with children with Asperger syndrome, we would very much like to give them the opportunity to attend.

Programme:

Making Friends: Strategies to improve social understanding and friendship skills
The presentation explains the four stages in the development of friendship and strategies to encourage the development of friendship skills and social integration from children as young as three years to young adults.  The activities can be applied in the classroom, playground and at home. Cognitive Abilities: A different way of thinking and learning profile
The unusual profile of cognitive abilities associated with Asperger syndrome is described with an emphasis on the profile of intellectual abilities, problems with executive function, attention and weak central coherence.  Strategies are described to improve attention, organisational skills and academic achievement.
