Next Generation Socialization (NGS)

 

NGS is open during term-time:

 

Tuesday nights, 6.30 to 8.30pm at Yzone Youth Centre, Blackberry Drive, Fair Oak, Eastleigh, Hants. (we take referrals only)


Thursday nights, 7.00 to 9.30pm at HYPE, Satchell Lane, Hamble, Southampton, SO31 4HS


It is a project for young people with Social and Communication difficulties of which a large proportion of the group are on the Autistic spectrum. Young People are aged 13 to 21 years and are encouraged to be involved in the planning of the sessions, and to join in as much as they feel able to.

 

Content of sessions has included; team building activities, bowling trip, themed cooking evenings, BBQ & rounders, quiz nights, issue based sessions on, drugs & alcohol awareness,sexual health, keeping safe, internet safety, personal awareness and safety.

 

We also have informal evenings where the young people can use the Youth Centres facilities such as, play pool, Nintendo, Playstation, use the sports hall, or sit in the chill out room. In addition we eat out at a restaurant once a term to encourage young people to develop social skills, so they will order from the menu, sit down together and eat a meal, with the support of four trained staff who come from a youth and social work background.
