Family youth club

Family youth club

What is this?

Our monthly, Saturday afternoon clubs are specifically for children accompanied by their families (including siblings). There is no fixed age-range but most children that attend are between 5 and 13.

A child does not need to have a formal autism diagnosis to attend.

We have activities such as table tennis, air hockey, a craft table, books, board games, LEGO and other toys plus a structured craft activity. A quiet room is also available.

A limited selection from our Resource Library will be available at the club.

We ask for a £2.00 contribution per child towards the cost of these meetings, payable in advance. This includes a selection of drinks and biscuits for all the family during the afternoon.

Meeting dates and details

Our Family Youth Club takes place at:

Chandlers Ford Methodist Church, Winchester Road, SO53 2GJ from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, usually on the 4th Saturday of most months (see our Diary dates page).

Places must be booked and paid in advance as there will be a strict limit on the numbers we can accommodate. This will be on a first come, first served basis with a maximum of 5 places available per family. Providing a sufficient number of bookings have been received 24 hours before the club (to make it viable), additional bookings may be made up until 1.00pm on the day or when all places have been booked (whichever is earlier).

Book here

Please note: If, after booking, you find you are no longer able to attend, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make your place available to others.

Free parking is available behind the Church (or in the nearby Fryern Shopping Arcade if the church car park is full). Please enter via the central door of the venue at the rear of the church, adjacent to the car-park (note: not the via the children's garden as previously).

  • If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 during the meeting you will be asked to return home.
  • The wearing of face coverings inside the building is optional – please respect people's choices*.
  • Parents/carers must remain responsible for their children/young people and must remain in the same room as them at all times.
  • We ask that an adult accompanies their child/young person to the toilet.
  • Volunteer helpers who are running this activity are not responsible for supervising children.
  • Our volunteer helpers will monitor the congestion in rooms and, therefore, may ask families to move on from one activity to another.
  • Please speak to a helper if you need to access a "chill-out room" to help support your child/young person
  • The stage area of the main hall is out of bounds to us.
  • Please respect the facilities (which we use at very low cost) and report any accidental damage immediately to one of our helpers.
  • This club is available to branch member families only, therefore if you haven’t yet joined, please complete a membership form and post or email to us, or complete a form at the club on your first visit.

*Please note: we may have to impose tighter restrictions if there is a significant increase in COVID-19 cases locally.
